Introduction
The project is organized into nine interconnected Work Packages, combining project management, data integration, applied case studies, capacity building, dissemination and cluster development. The official work plan covers a 36-month implementation period.
WP1 - Project Management
Coordination, technical and financial monitoring, regular meetings, reporting and task follow-up. This WP ensures effective project implementation and coordination between all partners.
WP2 - Data Acquisition and GIS Platform
Development of an integrated GIS platform that brings together geospatial datasets currently dispersed across several sources. The platform will include information on land use, protected areas, habitats, forest inventory, geosites, elevation and bioclimatic variables.
WP3 - Expansion of Anthromes
Assessment of the transformation of natural landscapes into human-altered landscapes across Atlantic Islands. This WP will map land-cover change and identify geographical, ecological and socioeconomic drivers of anthrome expansion.
WP4 - Viewpoints as Ecotourism Resources
Evaluation of viewpoints as resources for ecotourism and landscape interpretation. This WP will combine geospatial data, land use/land cover, protected areas, geosites, elevation, accessibility and viewshed analysis to support sustainable tourism development.
WP5 - Invasive Alien Plants
Modelling of the potential distribution and spread of invasive alien plants in the Azores using climatic data, land use/land cover and spatial landscape information. The results will support management and conservation strategies.
WP6 - Game Bird Census Data Analysis
Analysis of long-term census data on game bird species and other nesting bird species using Bayesian models, stochastic population models and machine learning approaches. This WP supports sustainable management and conservation of bird populations.
WP7 - Priority Habitats Mapping and Integration
Integration of fragmented information on terrestrial and marine priority habitats. This WP will improve access to habitat data, support conservation planning and explore a marine case study related to seamount habitats.
WP8 - Diffusion of AI and Bayesian Applications
Promotion of AI and Bayesian inference through training, workshops, seminars, webinars and the development of a postgraduate course applied to geospatial and environmental data analysis.
WP9 - AI and Bayesian Data Analysis Cluster
Creation of a collaborative Atlantic cluster focused on AI and Bayesian methodologies applied to geospatial and environmental data analysis. This WP also supports the groundwork for a future data analysis startup.
